CyberMummy11 Sponsored Blogger Guidelines

Feb 06, 2011 MummyTips Blog 7 Comments

We keep hearing about more bloggers being sponsored to come to CyberMummy this year – which really shows how companies are embracing mum bloggers and are interested in connecting with them in a meaningful way.

Since securing a sponsor is a hot topic of conversation, it seems like a good time to remind everyone of our guidelines for being a sponsored blogger. Please remember – the company is sponsoring you, not the CyberMummy conference itself, and we have guidelines for what you can (and can’t do) for your sponsor on the day.

Q: What can I offer a sponsor?

A: You will be the company’s representative at CyberMummy. You can be their eyes and ears, act as their main networker and help them to develop ways to engage with other parent bloggers. There are many services you can provide. It is important to clarify to your sponsor that they are sponsoring you as an individual and that they are not official sponsors of CyberMummy11.

On the day:

• You can wear sponsor branded clothing and/or badges to the event.

• If someone directly requests information about your sponsor, talk to them, take down their details and offer to forward on anything else they might need after the conference.

• You can include your sponsor’s name/logo on your regular business cards. Why not invest in some uber-cool Mini Moo cards? At around £10 for 100, they’re a very inexpensive way of promoting your blog.

• You are not permitted to hand out brochures or promotional material relating to your sponsor, their products or services.

• You are not permitted to display any signage relating to your sponsor.

• No samples are permitted on the CyberMummy premises. Anything found will be confiscated and the blogger/sponsor will be responsible for the cost of removal.

• We reserve the right to ask any blogger who is found to be in breach of these guidelines to leave the premises.

On your blog:

Your blog is your space – so here, anything goes. However, we do suggest that you agree in writing with your sponsor exactly what you are offering them in return.

Here are a few suggestions.

• You may want to offer your sponsor your consulting services on a separate project for a specific period of time.

• You can provide advertising space on your blog.

• You can create content on your blog in conjunction with your sponsor: a post, competition or review.

• You can offer to guest post or create unique content for your sponsor’s own website/blog. If you are looking to forge a long term relationship then this is a great idea.

If you have any questions relating to individual sponsorship that are not covered here, please drop us an email: info [at] cybermummy [dot] com.

These are very different guidelines to last year – can I ask why the change? Last year we were allowed to bring leaflets/ samples, and only give them to those requesting them.

    Of course you can ask!
Last year the conference was much smaller and there were only a handful of sponsored bloggers.
Our numbers have more than doubled for this years conference and we want swag and printed material to get out of hand.

Hi Sian, if a sponsor wanted to contribute to the swag bags could they do that and how?

    Hi Louisa,
Only official conference sponsors can contribute to the goodie bags.
